Welcome to Cooley Dickinson Hospital's American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center.

We offer many different classes including initial certification, renewal, and hybrid classes. Courses include basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), HeartSaver, Choke Saver, and Supersitters Babysitting.

This course is an AHA ACLS blended learning course. This course will satisfy the requirement for both ACLS Certification and ACLS Recertification.

Please note: the $100 cost for this course is for the skills check only and does not include the online portion. The online portion is paid directly to the AHA and not to Cooley Dickinson. Professional Development will not reimburse for the online portion.

Step 1: Before this skills check, complete ACLS Heartcode Online. Bring your certificate of completion to your skills check. 

Step 2: Complete a ACLS Skills Check in person (approximately 1-2 hours) on the date/time of this registration

This course is a two-day course for those who have never taken an AHA ACLS course, or who have an expired certification. You must attend both days to complete the course.

You are required to have the current textbook for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here

Pre-course Requirements

  1. Review and understand the information in your ACLS Provider Manual. 
  2. The precourse self-assessment is mandatory. You must print and bring your certificate of completion on the day of your course. You must obtain a 70% or better. Link to required pre-course work https://elearning.heart.org/course/424

This is a recertification course and is for participants with a non-expired AHA ACLS certification card. Those with expired certifications will not be admitted into this course.

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

You are required to have the current textbook for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here.

This course is an AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) blended learning course. This course will satisfy the requirement for both BLS Certification and BLS Recertification.

Nurse's week event for 3 CEU's. This presentation is by Rebecca Love, CNO, Quadrivia. For CDH nurses CEU's will be issued in Healthtream after attendance to the event and an evaluation form is received to professional development.

In this class students will learn handling, feeding, diapering, fire safety, first aid, when and whom to call for help if needed and CPR.  This course provides the baby sitter with the information needed to take care of a child safely.  Participants will receive a course completion certificate.   Ages 12 thru 16. 

We recommend that your child wear warm, but comfortable clothing.  The conference room can be a bit chilly in the morning.
